Rosemary Beach

The Beach

Imagine a stretch of beautiful white sandy beach with gently lapping clear, turquoise waves and that is what you will find in Rosemary Beach. Unique to this part of Florida, the sugar white sand is made of clear quartz which makes it luxuriously soft and cool to the touch. You will find the days slip away all too quickly while you soak up the sun and wiggle your toes in the incredibly soft sand. In keeping with Rosemary Beach's original commitment to protect the environment, including the beach and sand dunes, the town was designed with nine dune walkovers to provide gated beach access to residents and guests. These walkovers protect the fragile dune system and prevent erosion and washout during storms. At the top of each of the walkovers there are viewing areas with Adirondack chairs and umbrellas. These provide a perfect perch to read a book, watch the waves or take in the breathtaking, colorful sunsets. Each walkover contains an outdoor shower and two of the walkovers are wheelchair accessible. Walkovers C and G have restrooms. The closest walkover/beach access to Sandy Souls is Walkover E. At the foot of the front porch of the main house, you will find a boardwalk.  Walk south on the boardwalk about two blocks and you will find yourself at Walkover E.  Beach chairs, umbrellas, and water sports equipment are available for daily rental through Rosemary Beach Beach Services.

Town Square

The charming town center lies both to the north and south of 30A and is the heart of the community. Rosemary Beach was designed to be a walkable town and gives preference to the pedestrian and the bicyclist. The intention is that once you arrive in Rosemary and park your car, that you won't need it again until it is time to leave. Heaven!

The town design includes meandering paths, boardwalks and cobblestone streets leading to the Town Hall, Post Office, greens, pocket parks, many restaurants and specialty shops, which make Rosemary Beach such a unique town. The West Indies Dutch Colonial architectural style can be found in the details of many buildings and homes throughout town. Gas lanterns, hanging baskets overflowing with flowers, fountains and colorful buildings make you feel as if you have truly escaped to a special place. No golf carts are allowed in Rosemary Beach, which helps maintain the peaceful, family friendly feeling of the town.

There is always something fun going on in Rosemary. There is a farmers market on the Long Green every Wednesday and Sunday during Spring and Summer, Sundays only in the slower months. There are also special events throughout the year sponsored by the Merchants Association. The free monthly community newspaper, The Rosemary Thymes, is a great resource for details on all community events. Pools, tennis and more

If you can drag yourself away from the beach or if you just want to relax poolside instead of at the beach, there are many options for you.  There are four gated community pools, each with a different architectural style and feel. The two pools closest to Sandy Souls are the Coquina Pool and the Barbados Pool, both on the south side of 30A.  The most child centered pool is the Cabana Pool on the north side.  The Sky Pool is an indoor pool with a retractable roof, also on the north side, located next to the Athletic Center. The Sky Pool is the best pool for doing laps or getting a swim in on a rainy day.

Tennis lovers rejoice! As a guest of Sandy Souls Cottage and Carriage House you have complimentary use of the tennis courts at the Rosemary Beach Racquet Club. There are 8 clay courts, a pro shop and on staff tennis pros that conduct daily clinics for all levels and also private lessons.  Reserve your court by calling the Racquet Club at 850-278-2061 and inform them you are a guest of Sandy Souls Cottage booked through the Rosemary Beach Cottage Rental Company.  Although court time will be free for you, there is a cost for private lessons and clinics. The Racquet Club is located very close to the house, just north of 30A at the eastern end of the Long Green. It is a short walk or an even shorter bike ride from the house.

In addition to the pools and tennis, as a Sandy Souls guest, you have access to the Rosemary Beach Athletic Club, located just north of the Racquet Club.  The athletic facility has a weight room, exercise machines, yoga and fitness classes. Although you must pay for the yoga and fitness classes, you do have the ability to use the weight/exercise room free of charge.  Just tell them you are our guest.

Rosemary Beach also has a fitness trail, a self-guided architectural tour, butterfly garden, several greens, pocket parks and playgrounds throughout town to have some family fun. For a town map indicating all the interesting places to go please look at http://www.rosemarybeachfl.org.
